HYREL 3D – 3D Printing with Everyone’s Favorite Self-setting Rubber, Sugru!

We are excited to announce we have a new material to add to our growing collection of 3D printable materials! Sugru, an extremely versitile self-setting Rubber, has been successfully 3D printed with the HYREL Emulsifiable Extruder (EMO-25)! We are the first in the industry to be able to 3D print with this material!

This material opens up an entirely new door for manufacturing and prototyping!
For example, now, by adding Sugru into the 3D printing process, we can 3D print a Rubber gasket into a 3D model. Combining this ability with the our other 3D printable materials, such as plastics (ABS, PLA, etc.), clays (Air-Dry, Plasticine, Play-Doh, etc.), and Silicone RTV is also possible.

The potential solutions from these potent combinations are now able to be realized in the market!

We debuted this ability on our 34th Live Broadcast on justin.tv/hyrel3d on June 16th, at 2100 hrs (9pm), just past 1 hour into the broadcast.

Here is the new youtube video link:

Our HYREL Emulsifiable Extruder (EMO-25) currently 3D prints with Air-Dry Clays, Plasticines, RTV, and Play-Doh. We have renamed the EMO-1 to the EMO-25. The reasons for this will become clearer in the upcoming weeks.

The HYREL Emulsifiable Extruder (EMO-25) has several advantages including:
1.) The cartridge-based system, which the user can load themselves.
2.) The ability to reuse the material. Thus it has a very low impact on the environment.
3.) Modular, using our patent pending interchangeable head technology.
4.) Currently operated at room temperature, with no extra heat requirements, therefore no chance of getting burned.
5.) Perfect for schools – from Elementary up! Also stop motion film studios!
6.) Does not require a homogenized build environment (air ducts do not affect the prints).
7.) Safe and Non-toxic (clay, plasticines & Play-Doh).
8.) Variety of materials is virtually limitless, already proven with Air-dry Clay, Plasticine, Play-Doh, RTV … more coming!

Finally, the HYREL EMO-25 can be easily swapped out on the HYREL 3D Printer to go back to ABS / PLA (traditional 3d printing materials). We have built in a CANBUS to handle all connects / disconnects to each printer, to see this in action, please see this link here:
